I was born in Hibbing and have lived here all my life, so I understand the unique challenges that can affect people on Minnesota's Iron Range. I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Nurse Practitioner. I have my Masters in Nursing with an emphasis on psychiatry from The College of St. Scholastica. Prior to that I obtained my undergrad at St. Scholastica and my Associate in Science and Arts as well as Nursing degree from Hibbing Community College.
As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I am trained and licensed to assess, diagnose and treat the needs of patients who have mental health disorders or substance abuse problems. I can provide therapy, prescribe psychotropic and addiction medications, and also certify patients for inclusion in Minnesota's Medical Cannabis program.
My focus is to help people enjoy life and thrive here on the Iron Range and beyond. I care about each individual and their needs, and I believe that each unique patient benefits from a personal approach to their care. I enjoy being outside when the weather is nice- kayaking, hiking, going for walks or just relaxing by a fire. I also like to travel, seeing different places and meeting new people, which lends to an appreciation and deeper understanding of myself and how I can use that to help others.
It would be an honor to work with you. Our past and present challenges offer us a place from where we can learn, heal, and grow. I believe that we come to understand more about ourselves, others, and the world around us through our relationships. While the healing process is unique to each of us, it is never linear. I am committed to working together with you to manage and ease any distress or challenges that you may be experiencing on your journey. I'm passionate about helping others move out of surviving and into thriving in all aspects of life. I have experience in Trauma Therapy, Indigenous Focusing Oriented Therapy (IFOT), EMDR, and somatic experiencing and mindfulness techniques. I am in constant awe of the beauty of nature and it brings me joy and keeps me grounded! I generally spend my time hiking, backpacking, camping, and cross-country skiing. I also enjoy reading, knitting, crocheting, and spending time with my family.
